Bangor P7s mini rugby squad gathered at the club on Sunday for a last farewell to mini rugby

The weather replicated the sunny weather experienced on tour and making for a great afternoon which allowed everyone to catch up and reminisce on the last 6 years of rugby at the club and talk about future matches when the boys will line out for different schools next year coming up against each other on pitches across North Down and Greater Belfast!

Everyone was delighted to welcome along Ulster and Bangor player Stuart McCloskey who talked to the boys about their experiences playing and patiently stood for photos.

The day culminated with a trip down memory lane with a video showing highlights of the boys playing over the last 6 years and each player being presented with a tour squad photo, this resulted in very few dry eyes.

As a surprise for the P7 coaches, Jonny Watson, David Callaghan, Alan Scott and Mark Thallon the parents and players presented them with a framed caricature of each coach and photo book full of highlights of the boys playing. It was commented that it was the first time all four coaches had been seen smiling in unison over the past 6 years, this is something that was greatly appreciated and made the day even more emotional! A framed copy of this will soon be seen hanging pride of place in the clubhouse bar.

The coaches have been immensely proud of how this squad have developed and look forward to seeing them all back playing senior rugby in 7 years at Upritchard Park in Bangor colours.
