This First Trust Senior Cup quarter final was played in dreadful conditions, and with several more regular players missing as a result of recent injuries picked up during All Ireland League fixtures. With Harlequins a full two leagues above Bangor, this match was always going to be tough going. However, Bangor contested well and despite conceding an unconverted try, they started the second half only 0-5 behind. One of the more positive aspects of the game was the return of Curtis Stewart who marked the occasion with another of his characteristic drive-over tries. Although the difficult conversion was missed, Bangor had levelled the scores at 5-5. A mix-up at the restart led to a Harlequins penalty which they kicked to regain the lead by 5-8. Harlequins then sealed their victory with a converted try, bringing the final score to 5-15. Although out of the Senior Cup, Bangor can now concentrate on their All Ireland League campaign which resumes on Saturday with a rescheduled fixture at Tullamore.
