It was a very wet and slippy day at Upritchard park for the Gryphons 3rd game of the season, this time against the PSNI 2's. The home side knew that this was going to be hard day at the office with the weather conditions and playing against a team who are keen to play rugby up the jumper.
From the outset the Gryphons relished in the up front rugby, with excellent carries from Benjamin Worthington and Josh Nelson working to gain hard yards. This resulted in Ben getting the first and only try of the game within the first 20 minutes of the first half and Chris Walton converted to make the score 7-0 to Bangor.
PSNI ill discipline resulted in penalties going Bangor's way with Chris converting two before the break made it 13-0 to Bangor. This was not a day for the back line to do the damage that they are used to doing, but with all running support lines in attack and working together in defence the heavier PSNI back line could do no damage. Nico Espana made a try saving textbook tackle against the PSNI number 12 right at the end to keep the visitors off the score board.
