With a number of absentees from the squad, it was always going to be a tough encounter, especially with a number of significant positional changes.
Bangor began the first half playing into a strong head wind, and hoped that this was not be too much of an aid for Banbridge. Thankfully the wind did not have a significant impact on the game, and both sides were keen to run with the ball.
Any impact was felt by the might of the vastly improved Bangor forwards, who were much more aggressive with their rucking.
This provided a strong platform for the talented Bangor back line, which was loaded with skill and pace. In attack Bangor looked very sharp, with some great interplay between the backs and forwards. This was a joy to watch for coaches and supporters alike.
It was immediately evident that the Bangor backs and big ball carriers were going to thrive during the game.
There were several fantastic line breaks made by the Bangor team, and it was noted how hard players worked in their support play and for one another. This is a really positive trait.
Some of the supporters on the sideline were overhead to pass comment on how the young men had developed and improved as a team. This is all extremely encouraging, and it is hoped Bangor can continue this success throughout the remainder of the league campaign.
Thank you to all supporters, your presence on the touch lines makes a big difference.
Men of The Match, as chosen by the tee and water team (who are forwards, not sure if there was a bias decision!) - Thomas Wray and Harry Grant. It must be said, many people were deserved of the MOTM accolade!
Our next fixture is away to Newry on Saturday 10th November.
Final Score - Bangor 42 - Banbridge 15 .
