It was an eagerly anticipated North Down derby, when Bangor took to the pitch to face their local rivals Donaghadee.
Bangor were receiving the kick off to start the game, which they did so successfully, immediately scoring.
This was to set the tone for the remainder of the game, with Bangor showing a steely determination and conviction in playing a fast tempo, flowing game of rugby.
As on previous occasions, the interplay between backs and forwards was superb. Bangor kept the ball alive, and distributed passes well, allowing an ever increasing amount of holes to appear in the Donaghadee defence.
Bangor ran in a further fourteen tries.
Bangor demonstrated a fantastic positive attitude throughout the game, with the boys keeping their feet firmly on the ground and remaining focused on the task in hand. There was no display of arrogance or show boating. This is testament as to how hard the boys work in training, and the desire to want to do well.
It was encouraging to see forwards and backs alike playing some strong running rugby. The bigger men in the forwards had some great runs and line breaks, which was matched by the backs.
This was another great team performance, which Bangor hope to carry on into next Saturday, in another home North Down derby against Ards.
Again the coaching staff have the fantastic problem of deciding on a man of the match. Hopefully this dilemma continues for a long time! MOTM was Frank Shivers, who played exceptionally well at scrum half.
It was really encouraging for the players to see a significant amount of support at the game. Hopefully word of Bangor Youth Rugby is spreading, and we would always encourage new players, particularly as we look towards the future. It would be great if this time next year, we had a successful U12, U14 and U16 team!
