BRFCC Presidents' Dinner

BRFCC Presidents' Dinner

Roger Corbett

Our Club Presidents gathered for their annual dinner at Royal Ulster Yacht Club.

On Friday 2nd October, a gathering of 17 former Club Presidents attended a dinner in their honour. The current President, Drew Kennedy, welcomed everyone and gave his thanks to all those who had not only supported the club so generously over the past number of years, but especially this year during the clubhouse upgrade.

With particular reference to this work, Drew highlighted the invaluable effort put in over several months by Club Chairman Mark Thallon, without whose dedication and expertise it's debatable if the project would have got off the ground.

Following the meal, Iain Kennedy picked up where Drew left off earlier, adding the thanks of all those who volunteer for the Club. As a tangible acknowledgement of Mark's efforts, Iain then presented him with the Johnston Cup which formally recognises the Club's Volunteer of the Year. It was perhaps fitting that the only other recipient of this new trophy was Drew Kennedy, who worked closely with Mark and spent many long hours on site, turning his hand to any job that needed attending to.
