With the pitches looking great ahead of the new season, it's time to say a big 'thank you' to the Utilities Team volunteers.

Every Thursday morning at 10am, come rain or shine, a dedicated group of volunteers turn up at Upritchard Park to not only work on the pitches, but also to carry out the more mundane jobs like picking up litter, tidying up the garage and bin areas, and even keeping the grass verge outside the main gate under control.

Although the photo shows Davy Morrow, John Bell, Norman Gault, Roger Clegg and David Montgomery, the team also includes John McMaster, Wilson McCloskey, Stephen Burns and Tony Heffernan.

As a club, we are rightfully proud of our playing surface. We should also be thankful to benefit from the skills and dedication of this specialist team.

All being well, there should be more refuse bins positioned around the main pitch, so we're asking all spectators to use these for their rubbish, and not to simply drop it on the ground. This will, in turn, enable the Utilities Team to maximise their time on grounds maintenance as the season progresses rather than unproductive refuse collection.
