The conditions on Saturday morning were difficult, with strong winds and heavy downpours to contend with.
The game commenced with Bangor in receipt of the kick off, and the winds behind their backs. The young men had hoped to utilise this strong tail wind, to assist with gaining territorial advantage via their kicking game. This proved to be difficult, as Rainey were a well drilled side, and their continuity and support play must be commended.
They retained possession of the ball well, making it difficult for Bangor to assert any pressure in attack, and really stretched the Bangor defence.
That being said, when the boot was on the other foot and Rainey were defending the Bangor attack, they too were stretched defensively, as Bangor showed some great attacking prowess, support play and ability to keep the ball alive.
This was a tough encounter for both teams, given the inclement weather conditions, but credit must be given to both teams for the spirit in which this fixture was played.
Unfortunately on the day, Bangor were out muscled by Rainey. At the blow of the final whistle the score was 37 - 5 to the visitors.
Thank you again to all supporters who turned out in the poor weather.
Training as normal on Wednesday at 7pm.
