Bangor return to winning ways at Banbridge

Having not had a competitive league fixture for a number of weeks, Bangor U14s travelled away to Banbridge, hungry to play rugby.

Bangor had a great travelling support, and were also dawning their new kit for the first time. Keen to get back to their winning ways, the energy and positive attitude of the squad was noticeable from the warm up.

Bangor commenced the game, receiving the kick off, which they have done so successfully. Bangor were however making some great breaks, but the support players were not getting there quick enough. As a result result Bangor conceded a number of penalties, due to the ball carrier not releasing the ball on the floor.

This was frustrating for players and coaches alike. It was apparent as the game progressed, Bangor were clearly the much stronger team. When the backs utilised their pace, fast feet and handling skills, it was only a matter of time before a number of tries were scored.

As the game progressed, the Bangor forwards gained strength, mobility and assertion at the breakdown. This created an excellent attacking platform for the backs, and a number of successfully converted scoring opportunities.

It was great to see the positive attitude of both teams, who stuck to the task in hand - playing rugby.

Credit to Banbridge, as despite being on the end of a strong Bangor performance, they persevered until the final whistle.

Jake Burns was Man of The Match. His tireless work for the full game was noticeable, as well as his ball distribution and great attacking prowess.

Final Score Banbridge 0 Bangor 40.

Bangor will now play Malone, in what we know will be a much tougher challenge, on Wednesday 23rd January at Upritchard Park. KO at 7:15pm. All are welcome to watch the team playing under lights, and cheer them on.
