Another convincing win for Bangor U14s

On a bitterly cold morning, Bangor U14’s were abruptly awoken by the visit of Newry.

The game began with Bangor taking the kick off, which was well received by Newry. Some slack Bangor defending afforded Newry an opportunity to score a relatively easy try. From a Bangor perspective, this was too easy, and everyone knew Bangor were much more capable than the opening encounter against Newry had shown.

With some encouraging words from the coaches, and with the potential of being on the receiving end of a defeat at home to Newry, the young Bangor men woke up and played to their strengths.

The forwards rucked well, and again provided another strong attacking platform for the back line, who were able to show their pace and flare.

At times we would be forgiven for thinking we were on the peripheries of Antarctica, with the biting cold wind. However credit to both teams, as they persevered to the end. This provided a hard fought and entertaining game of rugby.

Bangor however were too strong both in the forwards and in the backs. In the end, Newry succumbed to a Bangor win.

The final score was 45 - 12, with some impressive performances across the forwards and backs.

One individual stood head and shoulders above everyone else, with his tireless work at rucks and strong ball carries, Harry Grant was the Man of The Match. Well done.

It is encouraging to see some new members joining the team, and we would encourage anyone who is interested in playing rugby, to come to our training sessions, every Wednesday at 7 - 8pm.
